What this recall covers

NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

THE INVOLVED VEHICLES DO NOT CONFORM TO FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 208, "OCCUPANT CRASH PROTECTION IN PASSENGER CARS, MPVS, TRUCKS AND BUSES". THE NON-COMPLIANCE EXISTS BECAUSE THE SEAT BELTS MAY HAVE BEEN OMITTED FROM THE LOUNGE AND JUMP SEATS.

The remedy

DEALER WILL INSTALL SEAT BELTS ON ALL INVOLVED VEHICLES AT NO CHARGE TO OWNER.

Notes

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MOTOR VANS.SYSTEM: INTERIOR; SEAT BELTS.CONSEQUENCES OF DEFECT: LACK OF SEAT BELTS WOULD INCREASE THE CHANCES OFSERIOUS INJURY TO PASSENGERS IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
