The defect
PLATFORM TRAILER HITCHES WERE PRODUCED FROM OTHER THAN PURE STEEL. CONSEQUENTLY, THE HITCH WILL NOT WITHSTAND NORMAL STRESSES.
The remedy
THE HITCH PLATFORM ASSEMBLY WILL BE REPLACED ON ALL INVOLVED VEHICLES.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: VANS EQUIPPED WITH PLATFORM-TYPE TRAILER HITCHES.SYSTEM: EQUIPMENT; TRAILER HITCH TORSION BAR.CONSEQUENCES OF DEFECT: TRAILER HITCH TORSION BAR MAY BREAK AS THE TRAILER ISBEING TOWED. THE TRAILER WOULD SEPARATE FROM THE TOWING VEHICLE, POSSIBLYRESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT AND PERSONAL INJURY.
