The defect
CRACKS MAY DEVELOP IN THE WELD AREA OF THE AXLE MOUNTING BRACKETS AND PROGRESS TO THE AXLE TUBE. CRACKS CAN LEAD TO FAILURE OF THE AXLE.
The remedy
THE AXLE AND ITS MOUNTING WILL BE INSPECTED BY AXLE MAUNFACTURER FOR POSSIBLE REPLACEMENT.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: SEMI-TRAILERS WITH TANK TRANSPORTS.SYSTEM: SUSPENSION; AXLE AND AXLE MOUNTS.CONSEQUENCES OF DEFECT: IN THE EVENT OF COMPLETE AXLE FAILURE OF THE AXLE TUBE,THE AXLE ASSEMBLY MAY SEPARATE FROM THE FRAME AND A VEHICLE ACCIDENT MAYRESULT.NOTE: OWNERS ARE CAUTIONED TO AVOID OVERLOADING VEHICLE BEYOND THE AXLE RATINGOF 22,500 LBS., AND DRIVING ON ROUGH TERRAIN UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS CORRECTED.
