The defect

THE ASSEMBLY THAT CONNECTS THE STEERING SHAFT TO THE STEERING GEAR HAS A LOOSE CONNECTION WHICH ALLOWS EXCESSIVE PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL.

The remedy

IF THE COMPONENTS ARE FOUND TO BE LOOSE, A STEERING SPROCKET AND YOKE ASSEMBLY WILL BE REPLACED. IF THE SPLINES OF THE STEERING GEAR INPUT SHAFT ARE WORN, THE SHAFT WILL ALSO BE REPLACED.
