The defect
A SUPPORT THAT CONNECTS THE BODY TO THE CHASSIS LIES AGAINST THE BRAKE LINE THAT CONNECTS THE MASTER CYLINDER TO THE BRAKE WARNING SWITCH. CONSEQUENCE OF DEFECT: LOSS OF HYDRAULIC FLUID RESULTS IN COMPLETE LOSS OF BRAKES, WHICH COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT.
The remedy
REROUTE AND/OR REPLACE BRAKE LINES AND SUPPORT TO AVOID CONTACT.
Notes
SYSTEM: BRAKES LINES/BODY TO CHASSIS SUPPORT. VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: GRUMMAN KURBMASTER BODIES INSTALLED ON GENERAL MOTORS P-60 CHASSIS EQUIPPED WITH HYDRAULIC BRAKES.
A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
