The defect
AN INCORRECT RATIO RELAY VALVE WAS INSTALLED IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM AND THE PRESSURE PROTECTION VALVE WAS INSTALLED INCORRECTLY.
The risk
INCORRECT INSTALLATION OF THE VALVES WOULD REDUCE THE AVAILABLE RESERVOIR CAPACITY BY ONE HALF, RESULTING IN LOSS OF NORMAL BRAKING FUNCTION AND COULD CAUSE APPLICATION OF THE SPRING BRAKES, WHICH COULD EFFECT THE OPERATION OF THE TRUCK AND RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT.
The remedy
REPLACE THE BRAKE RELAY VALVE AND RE-ORIENT THE PRESSURE PROTECTION VALVE.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
