What this recall covers

NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

THE MOUNTING BRACKET FOR THE REAR TRAILER HITCH DOES NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT STRENGTH TO WITHSTAND THE LOADS OF AN ATTACHED TRAILER.

The risk

THE MOUNTING BRACKET CAN SEPARATE FROM THE MOTORHOME, ANDTHE TRAILER WILL ONLY BE ATTACHED BY THE SAFETY CHAINS, CAUSING POSSIBLE LOSSOF CONTROL OF THE TRAILER AND/OR THE MOTORHOME, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLEACCIDENT.

The remedy

INSTALL ADDITIONAL SUPPORT BRACKETS TO THE TRAILER HITCH FRAME.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
