The defect

THE DRIVER'S SAFETY BELT DOES NOT COMPLY WITH FMVSS 208, "OCCUPANT CRASH PROTECTION."

The risk

THE SAFETY BELT DOES NOT HAVE THE REQUIRED LENGTH TOSAFELY FIT THE 95TH PERCENTILE MALE IN THE FORWARD SEAT POSITION. THIS WOULDDISCOURAGE USE OF THE SAFETY BELT AND IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, THE NON-USERWOULD NOT BE PROVIDED THE PROTECTION OFFERED BY THE SAFETY BELT.

The remedy

A REPLACEMENT BELT RECEPTACLE WILL BE PROVIDED WITH INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE OWNER OR DEALER TO INSTALL. THE NEW RECEPTICAL WILL PROVIDE AN ADDITIONAL 2 INCHES OF BELT EXTENSION.
