The defect

MISSING WELDS IN THE UPPER COUPLER ASSEMBLY CAN LEAD TO FATIGUE CRACKS IN THE BOTTOM PLATE OF THE ASSEMBLY OVER A LENGTH OF TIME, CAUSING FAILURE OF THE UPPER COUPLER ASSEMBLY.

The risk

THIS CONDITION CAN RESULT IN SEPARATION OF THE UPPER CONTROL ASSEMBLY WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.

The remedy

DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE TRAILERS FOR FATIGUE CRACKS AND REWELD THE UPPER COUPLER ASSEMBLIES, IF NECESSARY.
