The defect

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: TRUCK BODIES BUILT FOR PENSKE ON THEIR TRUCK CHASSIS. THE HOLES PUNCHED ON THE REAR FRAME POST TO ACCOMMODATE THE GRAB HANDLE INSTALLATION WERE TOO LARGE FOR THE ATTACHMENT HARDWARE, RESULTING IN LOOSE-FITTING HANDLES.

The risk

SHOULD A HANDLE DETACH FROM THE TRUCK BODY WHILE AN OPERATOR IS RELAYING ON THE HANDLE FOR SUPPORT, THE OPERATOR COULD FALL AND SUFFER INJURY.

The remedy

MORGAN TRAILER IS SUPPLYING PENSKE WITH THE REPAIR KITS NECESSARY FOR THIS RECALL.

Notes

OWNER NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING MAY 1998.ALL VEHICLES ARE OWNED BY PENSKE WHO IS CONDUCTING THE REMEDY PORTION OF THIS RECALL.
