The defect

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: HEAVY DUTY TRUCKS. THE DOOR HINGE FASTENERS CONTAIN A DEFECT WHICH COULD CAUSE A FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THE LOADING REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS NO. 206, "DOOR LOCKS AND DOOR RETENTION COMPONENTS."

The risk

IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, THE DOOR HINGE MAY NOT PERFORM AS REQUIRED BY THE STANDARD.

The remedy

DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE DOOR HINGE FASTENERS.

OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JANUARY 25, 1999. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT FREIGHTLINER AT 1-800-547-0712.
