The defect

EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION: TRACE MODEL T-1112-SB POWER INVERTER INSTALLED BY FONTAINE ON HEAVY TRUCK TRACTORS. THE POWER INVERTER INSTALLED MAY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE BATTERY CABLE CONNECTION.

The risk

IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE CABLE TO GROUND AGAINST THE TRUCK FRAME, SHORTING THE VEHICLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND RESULTING IN A LOSS OF ELECTRICAL POWER.

The remedy

DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE MAIN BATTERY CABLE FEED TO THE INVERTER FUSE ON INVOLVED VEHICLES.

OWNER NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING JANUARY 2000.OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT FONTAINE AT 1-888-949-0001.
