The defect

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: FIFTH WHEEL TRAVEL TRAILERS. THE BRAKE WIRES MAY BE PINCHED BETWEEN THE FRAME AND THE UNDERBELLY WHICH COULD CAUSE CHAFING OF THE WIRE.

The risk

THIS CONDITION CAN CAUSE AN ELECTRICAL SHORT OR BRAKE FAILURE.

The remedy

DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE TRAILERS AND WILL TRIM THE UNDERBELLY BACK AND PROTECT THE WIRE FROM ANY SHARP EDGES. IF THE WIRE IS CHAFED IN ANY WAY, IT WILL BE REPLACED.

OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JULY 20, 1999. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT GLENDALE AT 1-519-245-1600.ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).
