The defect
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE HEATER HOSES ARE EXPOSED TO THE DRIVER SIDE FOOTWELL.
The risk
SHOULD A LEAK OCCUR, THE DRIVER'S FOOT COULD GET SCALDED.
The remedy
DEALERS WILL INSTALL A PROTECTIVE PANEL OVER THE HEATER HOSES.

OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JULY 1, 1999.OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT FERRARI AT 1-201-816-2651.ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).
