What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2001 Shasta Cheyenne, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Tires & wheels
Reports naming tires, wheels, hubs, or the tire-pressure monitoring system.
From owner reports, verbatim
TIRE PRESSURE CHECKED APPROX 800 MILES PRIOR TO THE BLOWOUT. THE BLOWOUT OCCURRED FROM WITHIN THE CENTER OF THE TIRE. THE TREADWARE WAS WELL UNDER THE MANUFACTURERS RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT PERIOD. THE TIRES ARE ONE A 2001 SHASTA 31 FT MOTOR HOME. EACH TIME THE UNIT IS IN STORAGE OR IN USE AT A RV LOCATION, THE SIDEWALLS ARE PROTECTED FROM SUN DAMAGE. THE TIRES ARE NOT SIDEWALL CRACKED. UPON BLOWOUT, THE TIRE SHREDDED FROM THE CENTER, CAUSING UNDERCARRIAGE DAMAGE TO THE UNIT. LUCKILY, THE BLOWOUT WAS FROM THE INSIDE DUAL ON THE REAR. I WOULD HATE TO SAY WHAT DAMAGE MAY HAVE BEEN CAUSED IF EITHER ON OUTER OR FRONT, AS THE STEEL BELTS POUNDED FOR A PROTRUSION FROM THE TIRE FOR ABOUT 8-12 INCHES EXTENDING FROM THE CENTER OF THE TIRE. *TR
Too few reports in this category for a page of its own — they appear in the full complaint list.
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
