The defect: Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Starcraft Allstar XL transit buses equipped with Cummins B6.7 diesel engines. The electric fuel heater within the fuel module may overheat, causing plastic in the fuel heater to melt and potentially catch fire. It may also lead to engine stalling.
The risk: A fire increases the risk of injury. An engine stall can increase the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Cummins will replace the fuel heater with a newly designed fuel heater, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 18, 2021. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-800-348-7440. Forest River's number for this recall is 05-1401.

The defect: Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Starcraft Allstar, Allstar XL, and Starlite vehicles equipped with Safe Fleet Prolo Roof Escape hatches. Due to a manufacturing issue, the roof hatch external handle may unexpectedly break under reasonable use.
The risk: If the roof hatch external handle breaks, in the event of an emergency, the hatch cannot be easily opened from outside the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury.
The remedy: Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will replace the hatch, free of charge. The recall began August 27, 2019. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-800-748-3440. Forest River's number for this recall is 05-1060.

FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL: PRE-HEATER

The defect: Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Starcraft All Star XL vehicles equipped with diesel engines with fuel module option number FS90301 or FS90453. The electric fuel heater within the fuel module may overheat and cause plastic in the fuel heater to melt and potentially catch fire. It may also lead to engine stalling.
The risk: A fire increases the risk of injury. An engine stall can increase the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuse to a 30A fuse, reverse the polarity of the wiring to the fuel heater, install a new fuel heater, and add a white dot on the fuel heater connector, free of charge.. The recall began August 28, 2019. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-800-348-7440 or Cummins customer service at 1-800-286-6467. Forest River's number for this recall is 05-1021.

Cummins states per NHTSA Recall 21E-032, “The fuel rail assembly may develop leaks, which may result in an undetected prolonged diesel fuel spray.”

Damage to the tire’s valve stem may lead to loss of air pressure, which, if unnoticed, could lead to a flat tire or on dual-wheels an overloaded tire. In extreme situations, rapid loss of tire pressure could increase the risk of a crash. Operators may identify an audible rattling noise from the stem extension rubbing against the wheel opening while driving. Visual inspection during inspection or during maintenance may reveal stabilizer is dislocated, damage to the stem extension, or the rim, and low tire pressure of the inner tire.

Fuel module options FS90301 and FS90453 contain an electric fuel heater. Internal electrical heating within the fuel heater may create sufficient heat inside the fuel heater to cause plastic in the fuel heater to melt and potentially catch fire. It may also cause an engine stall. A fire, if undetected and uncontained, presents an increased risk of personal injury. An unexpected engine stall may increase the risk of a crash. If this condition exists, melting of the fuel heater or fuel seepage from around the fuel heater may be visible during a service event, smoke may precede or accompany a fire, or the engine may become increasingly difficult to start.
