RD-00056 - The inspection and upgrade addresses a potential fastener edge distance issue with hopper side slope panel connection to the lower rail and the lateral cross members. A number of units have been found to have hopper side slope panels placed out of position (too low) in the manufacturing process such that the fasteners connecting the hopper side slope panels to the trailer structure may have inadequate edge distance on the hopper side slope panel. If this condition exists the hopper side slope panel connection may fail. The repair procedure is to first: inspect the hopper side slope panels fit to the lower rail using the gauge provided (SK-08892). If the hopper side slope panel is found to be out of position then additional fasteners are to be added as prescribed in the following remedy to re-establish the required joint strength. Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
Compare model years
Complaint and recall counts across every year of this model
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
