2011 Stoughton Hopper

Recalls, owner-reported complaints, investigations and safety data

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.
0
Safety recallsA safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
0
InvestigationsNHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
0
Crash or fire reportedComplaints whose submitter recorded that a crash or a fire occurred. These are the reporter's own answers on the NHTSA form, not verified findings.

Hopper Recall Ca

EQUIPMENT; EQUIPMENT:OTHER:OWNERS/SERVICE/OTHER MANUAL

This is the entire 13V-025 recall and campaign instructions sent to all of our Dealers and repair shops that were authorized to do the recall and update proceedurees. It includes: a table of contents that lists 1) a cover letter to the dealers explaining the nature of the recall and the upgrade campaigns that went above and beyond the recall. 2)It contains sample copies of the Dealer Notification and Owner Notification letters and the Canadian equivalents (2013-035 and 2013-036). 3)A complete list of units covered and the recalland upgrades they would need. It also includes the Recall Repair Documents RD-00031 rev C and RD-00040. TheRD-00031 repair addresses the lateral stability of the bottom rail in the immediate area forward of the landing gear and front hopper. Lateral movement in this area allows the bottom rail and steel internal structure to flex side to side between the two crossmembers forward of the hopper. Excessive flexing can cause fatigue cracks and fastener failure. RD-00040 addresses the fore and aft stability of the suspension subframe that has caused cracking in early versions of the front attachments that connect the front of the subframe channels to the aft hopper crossmember. The repair is to remove the first and second versions of the front attachment and replace with the third version with additional reinforcements. The additional campaign proceedures were the RD-00037 rev A, RD-00032, RD-00035 rev B and RD-00041. The nature of the first three are covered in the 14-Nov summary. The RD-00041 upgrade addresses the lateral stability of the aluminum subframe aft of the suspension hangers. Lateral movement in this area allows the subframe channel to flex side to side between the hanger and the suspension air bag. Excessive flexing can cause fatigue cracks in the aluminum channel. This covers the 2009 through 2013 model years.

RD-00032

STRUCTURE; SUSPENSION

STOUGHTON TRAILER?s recommended maintenance procedure and interval for torqueing bolts connecting suspension to aluminum subframe. The proper suspension to aluminum subframe bolt torque on model years 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 Stoughton Ag Hopper Trailers will prevent the bolts from loosening and possibly causing cracking in the subframe rails.

RD-00035-A

EQUIPMENT

Procedure to improve the durability of the model years 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 Stoughton Ag Hopper Trailers center divider, which separates the two hoppers. This has been sent out a total of 10 times as a repair.

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
