1993 Subaru Loyale Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Our database holds 13 NHTSA owner-reported complaints for the 1993 Subaru Loyale. Each one is a report filed by an owner or driver and published by NHTSA without most of them being verified. A complaint is not a confirmed defect, not a recall and not a manufacturer bulletin. Narratives are shown exactly as filed.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

THIS CAR HAS DIED ON THREE OCCASIONS WITH NO WARNING, AND WITH ONE INCIDENT OCCURING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 60+ MPH. DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS. MY CONCERN IS SAFETY - THIS FORTUNATELY HAS SO FAR NOT RESULTED IN ANY INJURY. THE DEALER HAS NOT REPORTED THIS TO MANUFACTURER - SAID THAT IT WASN'T A WARRANY PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T FIND THE "PROBLEM". *AK

THE NUT WORKED LOOSE OFF OF THE OIL PUMP GEAR. THE GEAR WALKED FOWARD,EATING THRUGH THE TIMING COVER,FINALLY WIPING OUT THE TIMING ASSEMBLY. FINAL RESULT - THE ENGINE LOST OIL PRESSURE AND THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN,CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SEIZE IN TRAFFIC.ENGINE WAS A LOSS. THIS ALL COULD OF BEEN AVOIDED IF A LOCK NUT WAS USED TO HOLD THE OIL PUMP GEAR IN PLACE. A 5 CENT NUT COST ME $3000.AND PLACED MY FAMILY IN DANGER. SAD,SAD,SAD!
