2015 Subaru Xv Crosstrek Hybrid Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF UNEXPECTEDLY AND I HAD TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTART THE CAR (PER INSTRUCTIONS ON THE NAVIGATION SCREEN). THE FIRST TIME I WAS ABLE TO CREEP TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD & RESTART THE CAR. THE SECOND TIME, I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT AT THAT TIME. I WAS TOLD THAT THE "RESTART BATTERY" WAS AT FAULT AND WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. THE CAR HAS 30,100 MILES ON IT AND IS 3 1/2 YEARS OLD (THE WARRANTY IS 36 MO OR 36,000 MILES. THE HYBRID BATTERY HAS A 5 YEAR WARRANTY BUT THE "RESTART BATTERY" ISN'T CONSIDERED PART OF THIS; EVEN THOUGH IT IS ONLY ON THE HYBRID CAR. MY MAIN CONCERN WAS THAT THE GAS ENGINE QUIT WITHOUT WARNING DUE TO THIS ISSUE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP.
