The defect: VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: STEEL, ALUMINUM AND VALUELITE HORSE TRAILERS. TIRE SIZES WERE IMPROPERLY ENTERED ON THE CERTIFICATION LABEL. THIS DOES NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS NO. 120, "TIRE SELECTION AND RIMS FOR MOTOR VEHICLES OTHER THAN PASSENGER CARS," AND PART 567, "CERTIFICATION."
The risk: IF COMPLETE TIRE INFORMATION IS NOT AVAILABLE, UNDERRATED TIRES COULD BE PLACED ON THE TRAILER CAUSING EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR OR, IN EXTREME CASES, POSSIBLE TIRE BLOWOUTS.
The remedy: NEW CERTIFICATION LABELS WILL BE MAILED TO OWNERS OF THESE TRAILERS. IF AN OWNER DESIRES, SUNDOWNER TRAILERS WILL INSTALL THE LABEL FOR THEM.

HORSE TRAILER DOOR FAILED AND SWUNG CLOSE BANGING INTO THE BACK OF CONSUMER'S HEAD.*MR THE HORSE TRAILER IS EQUIPPED WITH HOLD BACKS THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO HOLD THE LOADING DOORS OPEN. THE HOLD BACK FAILED AND THE DOOR SWUNG CLOSED, BANGING INTO THE BACK OF THE CONSUMER'S HEAD. THE DOOR IS STRONG AND HEAVY AND THE DOOR HAS NO PADDING. THE CONSUMER SUFFERED FROM HEAD, NECK AND EAR PROBLEMS. THE CONSUMER ALSO HAS AN INDENTATION IN THE BACK OF HIS HEAD WHERE THE DOOR IMPACTED IT. THE CONSUMER INDICATED THAT THERE ARE NO SAFETY WARNINGS OR ADDED SAFETY FEATURES IN CASE OF HOLD BACK FAILURE.
