2006 Sunnybrook Travel Trailer Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

I PURCHASED A SUNNYBROOK SUNSET CREEK #268 34 MONTHS AGO. SEVERAL DAYS AGO, I NOTICED SOME ELECTRIC BRAKE WIRES DANGLING UNDER THE TRAILER. UPON INSPECTION, I FOUND THAT THE PLATE THAT HOLDS THE BRAKE ASSEMBLY IN PLACE HAD COME LOOSE FROM THE AXLE. ALL BOLTS WERE EITHER BROKEN OR GONE. I FOUND 4 NUTS IN THE CASING. THE BRAKE PLATE WAS BADLY DAMAGED FROM ROTATING ON THE AXLE SPINDLE. THEN I NOTICED THE BRAKE PLATE ON THE AXLE IN FRONT OF THE BAD AXLE PLATE WAS LOOSE. AFTER FURTHER INSPECTION, I REALIZED THAT THIS WAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT, BECAUSE SOMEONE DID NOT TIGHTEN ALL THE BOLTS TO SPECS. THIS CAN BE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. #1 METAL TO METAL FRICTION CAN START A FIRE WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD. #2 BRAKES WILL NOT WORK UNDER THIS CIRCUMSTANCE. LUCKILY, I CAUGHT THIS BEFORE SOMETHING SERIOUS HAPPENED. EVEN THOUGH THIS UNIT HAS A 2 YEAR WARRANTY, SUNNYBROOK OR THE COMPANY SUPPLYING THE AXLE OR FRAMEWORK SHOULD REPAIR THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM. IT SHOULD BE ENTERED AS A RECALL, BECAUSE OF THE SEVERITY OF THE PROBLEM. I WILL CHECK WITH MY DEALER TOMORROW AND SEE IF I CAN GET RESULTS. REMEMBER, THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT OR FIRE!!! *TR
