On a 300-mile trip, I hit a road dip in a corner, and the bottom crash bar impacted the ground due to clearance issues. Because the crash bars make ground contact before the footpegs, they pose a critical safety hazard and cannot be safely used. As I have removed them for my personal safety. When a crash bar touches the ground before your footpegs or feelers do, it violates basic motorcycle safety geometry. Stock footpegs are designed to fold up and scrape as a tactile warning; rigid crash bars don't fold—they lock against the pavement, lift the front or rear wheel, and instantly dump the bike.

The contact owns a 2024 Suzuki V-Strom 800DE equipped with Dunlop tires, Tire Line: Trailmax Mixtour, Tire Size: 90/90/21(front) and 150/70/R17(rear), DOT: Rear tire (1EU3PYDFM3524), DOT: Front tire (N/A). The contact stated that while making a turn at 45 MPH, the motorcycle began to violently shake. There was no warning light illuminated. Upon inspection of the tires, the contact discovered that the center treads on the front and rear tires were worn. Despite the failure, the contact was able to ride the motorcycle back to the residence. The tires were taken to dealer where it was acknowledged that there were failures with the tires and referred the contact to the tire warranty department. The warranty department offered no assistance and the contact paid out-of-pocket for a new set of tires. The tires were replaced by the contact. The failure mileage was 1,700.
