TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 (NA) SUZUKI HAYABUSA MOTORCYCLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MOTORCYCLE WAS INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BATTERY HAD BEEN OVERCHARGED AND LEAKED SULPHURIC ACID. AS A RESULT, THE BATTERY AND RECTIFIER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V018000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000. THERE IS A FAILURE IN THE SEAL FOR THE CLUTCH ROD. CONTAMINENTS ARE GETTING IN AND DISCOLORING THE DOT 4 BRAKE FLUID. THIS DISCOLORATION IS THE FIRST SIGN OF FAILURE AND YET THE DEALER SAYS TO CHANGE ONLY DURING NORMAL MAINTENANCE, TWO YEARS. THIS SEAL IS UNPROTECTED AND IS SUBJECT TO FAILURE THUS COMPROMISING THE CLUTCH SYSTEM.*AK
