1997 Suzuki Intruder Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

FUEL TANK HAS DEVELOPED A HOLE FROM THE INSIDE OUT, AT THE LEFT CORNER BY THE SEAT. I CALLED TWO MOTORCYCLE REPAIR SHOPS, AND BOTH PEOPLE I SPOKE WITH KNEW WHERE THE HOLE WAS, AND WHAT MODEL I HAVE JUST BY TELLING THEM THERE WAS A HOLE. THEY EACH TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE SEEN IT MANY TIMES ON MY MODEL AND THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL. ONE OF THE MECHANICS SAID I WAS LUCKY NOT TO BE RIDING AT THE TIME BECAUSE THE GAS WOULD HAVE IGNITED WHEN IT HIT THE ENGINE. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS TANK PROBLEM SEEMED TO BE A REGULAR PROBLEM WITH SUZUKI INTRUDERS AND HONDA REBELS, AND DOES NOT USUALLY HAPPEN TO OTHER BIKES. NLM. ****DIMSII IVOQ ENTRY POSTED AFTER 12/12/02 CUT-OVER TO ARTEMIS 760813. *AK *JB
