2000 Suzuki Intruder Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2000 Suzuki Intruder, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

MY 2000 SUZUKI INTRUDER 1500LC JUMPS OUT OF 4TH GEAR WHEN ACCELERATING. IT HAS DONE IT NUMEROUS TIMES. THIS IS DANGEROUS WHEN PASSING PARTICULARLY. SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE ON THE SUZUKI USERS FORUM HAVE MENTIONED THIS PROBLEM.*AK

NHTSA ID 10100900 · filed Dec 1, 2004

I PURCHASED A SUZUKI 1500 INTRUDER, WITH 2500 MILES, INMAY, FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER. IT HAS POPPED OUT OF 4TH GEAR NUMEROUS TIMES, UNDER MODERATE TO HARD ACCELERATION, AS IN, ENTERING AN FREEWAY, ON THE RAMP, TRYING TO GET UP TO SPEED TO MERGE. ALSO EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN PASSING A VEHICLE ON A 2-LANE DIVIDED HIGHWAY(COUNTRY ROAD). I HOPE THE ENGINE HASN'T BEEN HURT, BY BEING OVEREVED. IF YOU DRIVE A CAR, CAN YOU IMAGINE FLOORING IT TO GET ON THE FREEWAY, THEN HAVING SOMEONE SHIFT IT INTO NEUTRAL!!! NOT GOOD! I MANAGE AN AUTOMOTIVE TRANSMISSION SHOP, SO I HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF HOW IT WORKS ETC. THERE MUST BE A WEAK PART, TOO MUCH ENDPLAY,BAD SHIFT FORK ETC. I HAVE TRIED TO SHIFT IT DIFFERENT WAYS, HOLD IT IN ETC. TO NO AVAIL. THIS SITUATION NEEDS ATTENTION,SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT, I FEAR. I KNOW IT'S NOT FROM ABUSE, WEAR ETC. BAD RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX! IT SEEMS TO BE MORE PREVELANT IN THE 2000 MODEL YEAR? I'VE A SUZUKI FAN, AND HAVE OWNED "6"UZUKI'S. I HOPE THEY TAKE THE OPPURTUNITY TO CORRECT THIS. IT'S A GOOD MOTORCYCLE. *AK

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
