2008 Suzuki SV650 Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2008 Suzuki SV650, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

report

A CRACK HAS FORMED IN THE AREA WHERE THE LIQUID/VAPOR SEPARATOR BRACKET IS WELDED INSIDE THE FUEL TANK. I INVESTIGATED WITH A BOROSCOPE--IMAGE ATTACHED. THIS IS ALLOWING FUEL LEAKAGE TO OCCUR THROUGH THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE 2003-2006 RECALL (ATTACHED PDF). AFTER COMMUNICATING WITH THE SUZUKI DEALERSHIP, THE DISTRICT MANAGER REFUSED TO REPAIR THE GAS LEAKAGE.

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A NEW 2008 SUZUKI SV650 STANDARD MOTORCYCLE. THE INCIDENT HAPPENED RIGHT BEFORE I ENTERED THE FREEWAY. THE SCREW SECURING THE LEFT FOOT GEAR SHIFTER BECAME LOOSE AND FELL OFF. THIS IS A SERIOUS HAZARD SINCE MOTORCYCLE HAD ONLY 600 MILES WHEN IT HAPPENED. I COULD HAVE STALLED OR LOST CONTROL IF I ENTERED THE FREEWAY. *TR
