2015 Thor Motor Coach Windsport Owner Complaints

On [XXX] I bought an RV from Camping World in CO. At the time of purchase, I was not informed that any of the tires installed on the vehicle were retread tires, nor was I told that a retread tire size 245/70R19.5 had been installed on the front steering axle of a passenger vehicle. On [XXX], while traveling from Arizona back to Colorado, the front passenger-side tire suffered a catastrophic failure when the tread separated from the tire. The failure occurred while we were descending a 6% mountain grade with 3 adults, 1 child, 2 dogs and 1 cat onboard. When the tread separated, it caused extensive damage to the RV, including destruction of the brake line, braking system, and ABS system. My boyfriend, who was driving at the time and is a professional mechanic, immediately recognized that the brakes had failed after the tire struck the brake line. He kept pressure on the brake pedal and skillfully maneuvered the RV to the shoulder of the roadway. We ultimately came to a stop on the side of the road adjacent to a steep cliff. Had he not reacted quickly and appropriately, this incident could very easily have resulted in a fatal accident. We were fortunate that no one was physically injured. However, the circumstances of this failure raise serious concerns regarding the condition of the vehicle at the time of sale and the installation and disclosure of retread tires, particularly on a steering axle where tire failure can have catastrophic consequences. Had we been informed that the RV was equipped with retread tires, especially on the front axle, we would have had the opportunity to evaluate, replace, or further inspect those tires before operating the vehicle. No such disclosure was made. This incident resulted in significant property damage, loss of use of the vehicle, substantial inconvenience, emotional distress, and exposed my family and passengers to an unreasonable and potentially fatal safety hazard. The contact was able to open a window of the RV, and then was able to unlock the door from the inside. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but offered no assistance. IN SAME STATES IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PUT GAS INTO THE TANK WITHOUT USING A FUNNEL. THIS CAUSES THE GAS TO SPLASH BACK SOAKING THE 2 PEOPLE IT TAKES TO PUT FUEL IN. THE REASON THIS HAPPENS IS THAT THERE IS NOT ROOM FOR THE GAS NOZZLE TO FIT DOWN INTO THE LINE TO THE GAS TANK. IN OTHER STATES IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO GET THE NOZZLE IN, BUT POSSIBLE. WHEN WE APPROACHED THOR ABOUT IT THEY TOLD US IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY WOULD DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. WE LIVE IN COLORADO (A DIFFICULT BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE STATE) AND TRAVELED TO CALIFORNIA (AN IMPOSSIBLE STATE) BEFORE WE DISCOVERED THIS IMPOSSIBILITY. SOMETHING LIKE THIS SHOULD NOT DEPEND ON A WARRANTY TO FIX. IT IS NOTHING THAT CAN "WEAR OUT".
