The defect: ON CERTAIN GALVANIZED UTILITY TRAILERS, A BRACKET USED TO ATTACH THE AXLE TO THE TRAILER BODY WAS REVERSED DURING ASSEMBLY. THE IMPROPER INSTALLATION OF THE BRACKET MAY CAUSE THE AXLE TO DISENGAGE FROM THE TRAILER WHILE IN USE.
The risk: THE AXLE MAY RELEASE PARTIALLY OR WHOLLY FROM TRAILER AND MAY BEGIN TO VIBRATE OR WEAVE WHILE IN TOW INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL DISCONNECT THE IMPROPERLY ASSEMBLED BRACKET AND RE-ASSEMBLE THE BRACKET IN A PROPER MANNER FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 14, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT THULE AT 1-888-451-9776.

Safety recall
A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Safety investigation
NHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
Manufacturer communication
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
