Fuel system
Filed Jun 21, 2025
This vehicle has fuel fill on both sides. You have to open the other side in order to prevent a vapor lock on the fueling side. I have fueled this way numerous times without incident. I recently fueled the same way and fuel gushed out the opposite side without tripping the fuel nozzle cut off. This resulted on a significant amount of fuel dumping on the fuel bay.

While driving the top bunk above the drivers and passenger seats came loose from the latches and came down blocking my view of the road. My wife just sat down in her seat otherwise it would have hit her on the head. She was able to guide me to the side of the road and it put the bunk back on the latches. This is a huge safety problem which blocks the view of the driver. and can cause a major or even a catastrophic accident I sent an email to Tiffin and their response several weeks ago was thanking me for letting them know. There was no follow up no telephone call or no concern on their behalf as to what happened. This needs to be investigated and a possible recall issued on all motorhomes of this type with the overhead bunk..

Our motorhome came with an optional electric grill that is mounted on a slide in the storage compartments. While underway, the slide deployed, popping open the compartment door. The slide was then hanging out approximately 5 feet while going down the road. Thankfully someone flagged us down just before we would have struck another vehicle with the slide. Upon further investigation, the slide that the grill is mounted on has a placard stating the slide is limited to 500 pounds total weight EVENLY DISTRIBUTED. The grill is mounted at one end of the slide and is very heavy. The mechanism to secure the slide failed probably due to the slide being weighted inappropriately. Tiffin is aware of the situation and has not changed the design to a heavier slide.

Frieghtliner uses a tire pressure monitoring system manufactured by Valor. The system is unreliable and stops transmitting data to the instrument panel without any notice to the driver. The only way you discover it is not working is by scrolling through options on the instrument panel and discovering that instead of registering pressure and temperatures, you have dashes displayed. There is no alarm or other indication the system has failed. Loss of air on a steer wheel in a large motor home is potentially life threatening. The loss of pressure data being presented to the driver makes catastrophic tire failure more likely. Freightliner corporate and their dealers basically say they know the system is not operating appropriately and there is nothing more they can do.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
