What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 1987 Toyota Supra, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

TIRE TREAD FLEW OFF ON 1-10 AFTER ONLY 1 WEEK ON CAR. I SUBMITTED A CLAIM TO GENERAL TIRE FOR MY BENT RIM THEY REPLIED WITH A LETTER CLAIMING THAT THERE WAS A NAIL IN THE TREAD, WHICH CAUSED THE TIRE TO FAIL. WHEN ASKED IF TREAD FLIES OFF NEARLY KILLING PEOPLE BECAUSE OF NAILS THEY SAID YES, AND DENIED MY CLAIM. I ALSO HAVE PICTURES AND I CAN SEE NO NAILS IN MY PICTURES NOR DID ANYONE WHO SAW THE TIRE BEFORE IT WAS SHIPPED TO GENERAL. THEY ARE SHIPPING IT BACK TO ME NOW. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. I CONSIDER THIS TO BE A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM AS I ALMOST ENDED UP UNDERNEATH A SEMI WHEN THE TIRE EXPLODED. *AK (TIRESIZE: 225 50 R16)( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 225 50 R16 )
