Clock spring has failed. I've lost all steering wheel button controls as well as cruise control. Air bag light has now come on. I am afraid that if I get into a wreck, the airbag will not deploy. This seems to be a common issue with this select year for this Tacoma.
Unit 1 vehicle ran a red light at approximately 45mph and impacted the passenger side door of the Tacoma (unit 2) pushing the Tacoma into a stop vehicle (unit 3) in the turning lane. Unit 1 and unit 3 air bags deployed but none of the air bags in the Tacoma deployed. One of the pictures taken show the front driver side air bag sensor in the wreck frame.
The contact owns a 2017 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that, upon coming to a complete stop, the vehicle suddenly accelerated on its own. After which, upon attempting to apply the brakes and with the brake pedal depressed to the floorboard, the vehicle failed to stop, prompting the contact to switch off the ignition. As a result of the unintended acceleration and brake failures, the contact collided with the rear quarter panel of another passenger vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. No warning lights were illuminated. A police report was filed, and no injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who was unable to diagnose the failure, informing the contact that the event data recorder showed the accelerator pedal had been depressed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 80,000.
Airbags did Not deploy during car accident. This was the 2nd time, but 1st accident was minor because it was with a deer. The vehicle is available in the Towing company per police instruction. Driver had several bruises. Insurance companies are involved, have not hear anything about this specific situation. No warnings and all switches for airbags were ON

A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE
WENT THROUGH A CAR WASH AND BOTH REAR CORNERS OF THE CAB LEAKED ENOUGH THAT THE WATER WAS GUSHING IN. THE HEADLINER GOT SOAKED, IF THIS HITS ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS IT COULD SHORT AN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM POSSIBLY RESULTING IN AFFECTED ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS SHUTTING DOWN INCREASING THE POSSIBILITY OF AN ACCIDENT. OR WORSE, COULD DAMAGE THE SRS AIRBAG LOCATED IN THE NEXT TO THE REAR SEATS. THE FILE TYPE OF THE PICTURES I HAVE ARE NOT THE FORMAT ACCEPTED SO THEY WILL NOT UPLOAD.

TWO OCCUPANTS WERE INJURED AND TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY FOR INVESTIGATION. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 1909101335. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT AN INVESTIGATION WAS NEEDED. THE DAMAGES TO THE VEHICLE WERE UNKNOWN. TAKATA INFLATORS I WAS STRUCK ON MY FRONT LEFT SIDE . EVERY PANAL ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WS IMPACTE SIDE WAS IMPACTED. I WAS TRAVELING BOUT 40MPH. I SPUN AROUND AND ENDED BACK INNONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED A DRANAGE DITCH.I WAS DRIVING IN A STATE HIGHWAY
I PULLED UP TO PARK THE TRUCK. AFTER PUT IN PARK THE 2017 TOYOTA TACOMA LUNGED FORWARD. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO HIT A BRICK WALL. THERE WAS ALMOST $5950.00 IN DAMAGE TO THE TRUCK AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT GO OFF. I WATCHED MYSELF CRASH INTO THE WALL AND COULD NOT STOP THE TRUCK.
YESTERDAY MY SON WAS IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE HE REAR ENDED ANOTHER CAR AT AROUND 40 MPH, THE OTHER CAR WAS STOPPED. THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED ON A CITY STREET IN FREMONT, CALIFORNIA. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. WHAT IS CONCERNING IS THAT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. SEE THE ATTACHED PHOTO.
