The defect: EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTION: EMERGENCY EGRESS WINDOWS. THESE WINDOWS FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE RELEASE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS 217, "BUS WINDOW RETENTION AND RELEASE."
The risk: IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, THESE WINDOWS MAY NOT OPEN PROPERLY WHICH COULD RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURIES TO AN OCCUPANT.
The remedy: TPI WILL PROVIDE THE PARTS AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS WITHOUT CHARGE TO OWNERS OF THESE BUSES.
