Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Safety recallsA safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.

InvestigationsNHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
0
Crash or fire reportedComplaints whose submitter recorded that a crash or a fire occurred. These are the reporter's own answers on the NHTSA form, not verified findings.

The defect: Triumph Motorcycles America, LTD (Triumph) is recalling certain 2016-2019 Bonneville T120 and Bonneville T120 Black, 2017-2019 Bonneville T100 and T100 Black, 2017-2018 Street Cup and Street Scrambler, and 2016-2018 Street Twin motorcycles. The clutch cable may contact the main harness cover and cause damage to wiring within the main harness. This may lead to a loss of electrical power to various electrical circuits.
The risk: Loss of electrical power may cause the headlight or indicator lighting to malfunction or the engine to stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Triumph will notify owners, and dealers will replace the original securing guide for the clutch cable and main harness with an updated one, free of charge. The recall began March 27, 2019. Owners may contact Triumph customer service at 1-678-854-2010. Triumph's number for this recall is SRAN560.

Crash reported1 death reported

11/19/16,I WAS CONTACTED BY POLICE THAT MY 66 YEAR OLD HUSBAND, [XXX], WAS IN AN AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT AND DID NOT SURVIVE. 2/21/17 RECEIVED RECALL FROM TRIUMPH ABOUT THE EXPANSION AIR-GAP BEING TOO SMALL CAUSING THE HEATED HANDLEBAR GRIP TO EXPAND MAKING CONTACT WITH HANDLBAR END WEIGHT AND THE THROTTLE WILL NO LONGER RETURN TO ITS POSITIVE STOP. BECAUSE THE ACCIDENT REPORT WAS SO GRAPHIC, I DID NOT READ IT UNTIL 2/19/17. I KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE MOTORCYCLE WHEN I READ IT. 2 DAYS LATER, I RECEIVED THE RECALL & THEN KNEW WHAT WAS WRONG. HOWEVER, ATTORNEYS SAY THE MOTORCYCLE IS SO DAMAGED THAT THE RECALLED PART CANNOT BE FOUND TO BE CAUSE OF CRASH. THE ACCIDENT REPORT ACTUALLY CORROBORATES THE RECALL CRASH INFORMATION. SINCE WITNESSES SAID [XXX] WAS SPEEDING & HE WAS DEAD, I GUESS IT WAS EASY FOR POLICE TO CLOSE CASE WITH NO INVESTIGATION. [XXX] WAS A MASTER MECHANIC WITH HIS OWN SHOP. HE BOUGHT THIS NEW MOTORCYCLE AS IT WAS RETRO OF HIS CLASSIC 60'S MOTORCYCLE. HE'D BEEN RIDING MOTORCYCLES SINCE THEN & WAS ON A GROUP RIDE THAT HAD JUST SPLIT UP TO HEAD HOME WHEN HE DIED. I THINK IT WRONG THAT THE PRODUCT IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN JOHN'S LIFE. AND, THAT PROOF HAS TO BE SHOWN THAT PRODUCT CAUSED HIS DEATH. HIS FRIENDS & I ALL KNOW THE RECALL WAS CAUSE OF HIS DEATH ATTACHED ACCIDENT REPORT & RECALL NOTICE. TRIUMPH HAS NOT BEEN CONTACTED AS ATTORNEYS SAID THERE WAS NO CASE. *TT 'PARTS OF THIS DOCUMENT HAVE BEEN REDACTED TO PROTECT PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).' *JS *TR
