2002 Triumph Daytona Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

REAR BRAKE FAILURE ON ALL 2002-2003 TRIUMPH BONNEVILLE AMERICA, AMERICA, AND SPEED MASTER MOTORCYCLES. IF THE BIKE HAS BEEN ON ITS SIDE FALLEN OFF THE KICK STAND OR FALLEN OVER FOR ANY REASON AND YOU GET IT BACK UPRIGHT AND PROCEED WITH NORMAL OPERATION AFTER RIDING AND PUMPING THE REAR BRAKE SEVERAL TIMES YOU HAVE A COMPLETE FAILURE. NONE OF THE MOTORCYCLES HAD ANY DAMAGE TO THE BRAKE ASSY. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO A LOT OF RIDERS I HAVE THE VEHICLE VIN NUMBERS AND THE NAMES OF THAT OPERATORS. AFTER CONTACTING TRIUMPH THEY DO NOT SEE IT AS A PROBLEM BUT AS OWNERS WE DO. WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE WHO DOES NOT HAVE ANY IDEA THIS CAN AND DOES HAPPEN GETS KILLED. ONE LIFE IS WORTH ALL OF THE MOTORCYCLES BUILT. PLEASE HELP US GET THIS PROBLEM TAKEN CARE OF. I HAVE A PETITION THAT ONLY HAS 39 OWNERS THAT HAVE SIGNED IT SO FAR OF THAT GROUP 17 INCLUDING MYSELF HAVE HAD A REAR BRAKE FAILURES. THE PETITION IS ONLY A WEEK OLD AND IS ONLY SEEN BY MEMBERS OF A GROUP OF MEMBERS OF A WEB SITE ABOUT TRIUMPH MOTORCYCLES. OUT SIDE THIS GROUP OF ABOUT 1500 MEMBERS OTHER RIDERS HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. NO WARNING LABEL NOTHING FROM DEALERS OR TRIUMPH LTD OR TRIUMPH USA. PLEASE NOTE THAT I DO NOT KNOW OF ANY FATALITIES OR INJURIES AT THIS TIME BUT THAT SOME MAY EXIST AND BE MISS REPORTED. *JB
