2024 Triumph Tiger 850 Sport Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Good morning and thank you for providing an online form for issues with motor vehicles. The vehicle in question is a new motorcycle. I have found that I am often tailgated or followed closely by other motor vehicles on local roads and the interstate. I drive at, or near, the speed limit at these times. While no crashes have occurred, this problem has always occurred with this vehicle. I note that all the rear lights work (driving and brake lights). Yesterday I compared the speedometer reading against phone applications such as Waze, Apple Maps, and Google Maps. The speedometer reads 9-10 higher than the actual speed that I am going. This is the reason why traffic is often held up as I am driving far slower than indicated. I Googled this problem and found that many owners of this brand of motorcycle have the same issue and that the maker, Triumph, is aware of it and states that it is normal. This is unacceptable to me, hence my complaint. The importers of this motorcycle: Triumph Motorcycles America 1070 White St SW, Suite B Atlanta, GA 30310

Too few reports in this category for a page of its own — they appear in the full complaint list.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
