2000 Triumph Trophy 900 Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Our database holds 1 NHTSA owner-reported complaint for the 2000 Triumph Trophy 900. Each one is a report filed by an owner or driver and published by NHTSA without most of them being verified. VEHICLE WOULD DIE DURING WARMUP. IT THEN WOULD NOT START FOR 5 MINUTES AND ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE BATTERY WOULD DRAIN BEFORE IT ACTUALLY STARTED. TOOK BIKE TO TWIN PEAKS POWERSPORTS (PLACE OF PURCHASE) IN LONGMONT CO LOCATED @ I-25 AND HWY 66. THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG AND SAID IT NEEDED TO HAVE MORE THAN 1/4 OF A TANK OF GAS. WHEN QUESTIONS WHY IT STALLED WHEN I HAD A FULL TANK OF GAS, THEY IGNORED THE QUESTION. DEALER DID NOTHING AT THIS TIME. AFTER SEVERAL MORE TIMES OF THE BIKE STALLING, THE DEALER FINALLY FIXED THE PROBLEM BY WORKING ON THE CARBURETORS. NOW A NEW PROBLEM AROSE. AT NIGHT, I NOTICED THE ENGINE HOT LIGHT STARTING TO ILLUMINATE. PAYING MORE ATTENTION TO THE LIGHT AFTER THIS, I NOTICED IT ILLUMINATING QUITE FREQUENTLY AND ONLY AT LOW SPEEDS AND IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. I CONTACTED THE DEALER. THEY LOOKED AT THE BIKE, SAID THE FAN WAS WORKING OK AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. THEY FINALLY WORKED ON THE BIKE. WORK DONE WAS TO SAND THE GROUND CONTACT FROM THE HOT LIGHT. HOT LIGHT STILL CAME ON. I CONTACTED REG. MANAGER AND HE SAID IT HAS HAPPENED TO HIM AND NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT. I CONTACTED TRIUMPH IN GEORGIA. JERRY PARRISH WHO IS HEAD OF CUSTOMER RELATIONS TOLD ME TO HAVE TWIN PEAKS CONTACT HIM. TWIN PEAKS FAILED TO FIX THE PROBLEM, EVEN AFTER 1.5 YRS OF COMPLAINING TO THEM. I NOW BELIEVE JERRY PARRISH IS A PSEUDO FIGURE. 20 PHONE CALLS AND HE NEVER WAS IN HIS OFFICE AND NEVER RETURED ANY OF MY PHONE CALLS, WOW. I HAD TO TAKE THE BIKE TO ANOTHER DEALER IN DENVER, ERICO MOTORSPORTS WHO FOUND A WAY LEAN CONDITION ON THE BIKE, WAY LEAN CAN BURNT VALVES, THANKS TWIN PEAKS FOR YOUR EXCELLENT CARBURETOR WORK. DT ERICOMOTORSPORTS RETURNED THE BIKE TO ITS NORMAL OPERATING FUEL MIXTURE, YET THE BIKE STILL RAN HOT. AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS, THEY FOUND THE RECTIFYER, LIGHT BULB, AND REGULATOR BAD. THE HOT LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON ANYMORE, YET IT FEELS HOT, (THE HEAT POURS OUT THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BIKE). I CAN'T FIND ANY #'S TO REACH TRIUMPH OF ENGLAND, CAN YOU HELP?

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
