2013 Ural Patrol Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

2013 Ural Patrol. Driving down the road the other day, I heard a rubbing noise from my back wheel. It turns out the steel ring that the brake shoes contact had separated from the aluminum hub. The brakes would stop the steel ring but the wheel would rotate around it, so I had no rear brakes. The rim is stamped with a December 2016 date. This wheel replaced a recalled wheel by BMW Motorcycles of N. Dallas November of 2021 When the bike had 1824 km on the odometer (1133 miles). Currently 2489 km on the odometer (1546 miles). So this wheel only has 413 miles on it. I looked for recalls but didn't find any related to the hub. The wheel is available for inspection and I have photos showing the defect. I contacted Ural by email about the problem. This is their reply: "Hi, [XXX] ! My name is Arnella. Thank you for contacting us. Your local Ural dealer should be able to assist you with ordering parts. Also, for additional assistance with repair and/or replacement please contact an authorized dealer. Here is a link to our dealer locator: https://www.imz-ural.com/dealer-inventory-search . Please let us know if you have any other questions. Best regards, Arnella and the Team at Ural" INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
