2015 Ural Tourist Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Regarding my 2015 Ural motorcycle with sidecar and recall #22V431 - recall for wheel/rim cracking. I submitted for recall warranty work through my closest Ural dealer - Kalaber Creations (251 S Montezuma St, Prescott AZ 86303) on September 25, 2023. Specifically, Jim (1-928-231-1827) stated he put in the request for wheel replacement to Ural and it typically takes about 4 months for new wheels. I have attempted to contact Kalaber Creations and Jim several times with no luck over the past 15 months. Online information for this recall states to first contact your dealer, then Ural customer service if not resolved timely (1-425-702-8484). I contacted Ural directly on 12/27/2024, and they informed me I had to work with a local dealer. That same notification states that if there is not a successful resolution, the final step would be to file a complaint with NHTSA. My Ural side car was reported as defective with a split wheel September 2023. After several attempts following the established process for correction, I have been unable to get any resolution from a dealer or the manufacturer. Looking for assistance to get this resolved or suggestions on appropriate next steps. Thank you.

Fortunately I discovered this while the bike was parked. I was getting ready to go for a ride when I noticed that the front tire was flat. Upon further investigation I noticed the wheel had cracked all the way around wheel and caused the valve stem to be ripped from the inner tube. I also noticed that the rear wheel was cracking in the same exactly manner. The sidecar wheel looks intact. Ural had recalled their wheels for April of 2012 for the same reason.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
