The defect: Shyft Group is recalling certain 2017-2019 Utilimaster Mobile Maintenance Trucks equipped with a generator set. The flexible exhaust tube may tear, releasing hot exhaust gases into the generator compartment.
The risk: An exhaust gas leak in the generator compartment can increase the risk of a fire.
The remedy: Shyft Group will notify owners, and dealers will replace the exhaust tube, free of charge. The recall began on March 26, 2021. Owners may contact Shyft Group customer service at 1-800-582-3454. Shyft Group's number for this recall is 21-04.

Manufacturer communication
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
