The defect: Vanguard National Trailer Corporation (Vanguard) is recalling all 2023-2024 trailer models built after November 2022 and equipped with a SAF Holland Tire Pilot Plus (TPP) tire inflation system. The TPP electronic controller may open the check valves, causing the tires to deflate.
The risk: A loss of tire pressure while driving can lead to a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Vanguard will work with equipment manufacturer to replace and reactivate the Tire Pilot Plus system, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 8, 2024. Owners may contact Vanguard customer service at 1-888-253-3008.

Safety recall
A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. NHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
Manufacturer communication
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
