The defect: Vicinity Motor Corporation (Vicinity) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Vi38 vehicles. The power steering gear box may become damaged, resulting in a loss of steering control.
The risk: A loss of steering control increases the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the steering gear box assembly, if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed in March 2022. Owners may contact Vicinity's customer service at 1-604-607-4000. Vicinity's number for this recall is Campaign 000-043.

STRUCTURE

It has come to VMC's attention that a select number of 35 and 38 ft Vicinity buses may have an area susceptible to cracking and potential accelerated corrosion. These identified areas may cause the structure to crack around the shock absorber tower and lead to premature failure of the structure. VMC has engineered a solution to provide detailed instructions on how to identify the affected units and implement corrective measures. Refer to document CA-000-046 for details.
