The defect: Polaris Industries, Inc. (Polaris) is recalling certain 2010-2017 Victory Cross Country, Cross Country Tour, Cross Roads, Magnum, and Hard Ball motorcycles. If the engine misfires, continued riding may result in heat from the catalytic converter melting the rear brake line and nearby wiring.
The risk: A melted rear brake line can reduce braking performance, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Polaris will notify owners, and dealers will re-route the brake line away from the exhaust catalyst, free of charge. The recall began on November 8, 2017. Owners may contact Polaris customer service at 1-877-737-7172. Polaris' number for this recall is V-17-02.

POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION

The defect: Polaris Industries, Inc. (Polaris) is recalling certain model year 2015 Victory Cross Country, Cross Country Eightball, Cross Country Tour, Gunner, Hammer Eightball, High-Ball, Magnum, Vision Tour ABS and Vegas Eightball motorcycles manufactured August 11, 2014, to September 2, 2014. The affected motorcycles may have been manufactured with the transmission shift drum detent roller spring incorrectly installed.
The risk: If the roller spring is incorrectly installed, the transmission may not shift as intended, potentially causing the operator to lose control, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Polaris has notified owners, and dealers will inspect and repair the transmission, free of charge. The recall began on October 9, 2014. Owners may contact Polaris customer service at 1-888-704-5290. Polaris' number for this recall is V-14-03 A/B.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 VICTORY MAGNUM MOTORCYCLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE RIDING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SUDDENLY SLIP OUT OF GEAR AND INTO THE NEUTRAL POSITION. DURING THE FAILURE, THE MOTORCYCLE WOULD NOT PROPERLY ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE RIDING DOWN A HILL WHEN THE SPEED ERRONEOUSLY INCREASED. THE MOTORCYCLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER ROLLIN FAST CYCLE SPORTS LOCATED AT 1221 RT 22 EAST, UNIT 1, LEBANON, NJ 08833 WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MOTORCYCLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

This Service Advisory has been released to communicate a process which enables dealers to assist customers and repair qualified motorcycles without requiring pre-authorization from Victory Motorcycle.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING; EQUIPMENT; SERVICE BRAKES

Victory engineering has determined that some Cross Country, Cross Country Tour, Cross Roads, Magnum and Hard Ball models may experience damage to the rear brake line. Motorcycles experiencing prolonged misfire conditions may produce increased catalytic converter temperatures causing the retention clip securing the rear brake line to melt. In extreme cases, the retention clip may melt onto the catalytic converter, and increasing the risk of brake line damage.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:EXHAUST SYSTEM:EMISSION CONTROL

Victory has determined that some 2015 Victory motorcycle models, designated for sale in the State of California, may not meet emission control standards set forth by the California Air Resource Board (CARB). Some 2015 Victory motorcycles, equipped with California emission control components, may not effectively utilize stored fuel vapor from the charcoal canister. Victory has developed an updated Idle Air Control distribution hose which enables the engine to draw fuel vapor from the charcoal canister into both front and rear cylinders resulting in more complete utilization of stored fuel vapor. The ECM software must also be updated.

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
