SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS

The defect: ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE THREADS ON THE REAR BRAKE LINE PRESSURE SWITCH MOUNT COULD BE DEFECTIVE CAUSING THE POTENTIAL FOR A BRAKE FLUID LEAK AT THE BRAKE LIGHT PRESSURE SWITCH JOINT.
The risk: LEAKING BRAKE FLUID COULD CAUSE A LOSS OF REAR BRAKING CAPABILITY, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE REAR BRAKE LINES. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN APRIL 25, 2003. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT VICTORY AT 1-763-417-8650.

RODE 90 MILES AND STOPPED FOR A 15 MINUTE BREAK, AFTER RE STARTING OUR RIDE AT THE 1ST REDLIGHT A NOISE STARTED WE COULD NOT IDENTIFY, AT THE THIRD RED LIGHT WHEN I SQUEEZED THE FRONT BRAKE TO STOP ( THE MOTORCYCLE WAS STILL MAKING A LOUD SQUELING NOISE) THE FRONT CALIPER LOCKED UP AND CAUSED US TO WRECK. AFTER THE MOTORCYCLE WAS REPAIRED I REPLACED THE FRONT CALIPER TO PREVENT ANOTHER WRECK. THE OLD CALIPER IS AVAILABLE. IT CLEARLY SHOWS A RIP IN THE RUBBER SEAL THAT GOT STUCK *CN
