THE IN TANK FUEL PUMP DESIGN HAS THE ACTUAL PUMP SITTING IN A PLASTIC HOUSING WITH RUBBER SEALS AT THE TOP AND BOTTOM TO KEEP FUEL AROUND THE PUMP FOR COOLING, EVEN WHEN THE TANK QUANTITY GETS LOW. THE RUBBER SEALS ON MY FUEL PUMP ROTTED AND DISINTEGRATED. THIS WOULD ALLOW THE PUMP TO OPERATE WITHOUT THE DESIGNED COOLING OF THE PUMP AT LOW GAS LEVELS. OVERHEATING OF THE PUMP BECAUSE OF THIS COULD RESULT IN A GAS TANK FIRE OR EXPLOSION. *TR

CONSUMER EXPERIENCING PROBLEM WITH DEALER HONORING MFR. RECALL PERTAINING TO REAR BRAKE LINE; THE REAR BRAKE LINE ON PASSENGER'S SIDE WAS ROUTED TOO CLOSE TO THE CORMNER OF THE CORNER OF THE FUEL TANK. THE LINE COULD BE DAMAGED BY CHAFING AGAINST THE FUEL TANK. DEALER SUPPOSED TO INSPECT THE LINE AND REPLACE ANY DAMAGED LINES. NHTSA RECALL # 98V-195. *AK

OWNER DROVE THROUGH A SMALL PUDDLE OF WATER THAT RESULTED IN IMMEDIATE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. WATER GOT INTO AIR INTAKE THEN TO ENGINE. VEHICLE REFUSED TO RESTART AND HAD TO BE TOWED. OWNER WAS TOLD BY A MECHANIC OF THREE OTHERS W/SAME PROBLEM. *AK
