2024 Volkswagen Taos Electrical Problems

I am filing this complaint because Volkswagen is refusing to honor its factory powertrain warranty to cover a catastrophic internal engine failure on a vehicle with only 22,531 miles. The vehicle is well within its manufacturer's powertrain warranty limits. I have provided Volkswagen with two official receipts proving routine oil changes, GEICO insurance records proving the accident caused no front-end or engine damage, and an official email from Volkswagen stating there were no pre-existing issues with the vehicle. Furthermore, the engine issues align closely with known fuel system and engine defects currently being litigated in the class-action lawsuit Hardy v. Volkswagen. The vehicle suffered an acute mechanical/electronic failure the engine revved past 4,000 RPM, but the vehicle experienced severe sputtering, shaking, and minimal forward propulsion. The EPC (Electronic Power Control) warning light illuminated on the dashboard. Volkswagen dealership at middletown even states via email as attached can not determine the exact cause of the failure.

The odometer does not read correctly upon fill up. Typically the fill up states I have 325 miles per tank but I can drive about 100 miles and it still reads 325 miles until empty, after which time the odometer drops extremely fast and isn't consistent with miles driven. Additionally, twice now, while driving the instrument cluster on both the radio and speedometer have blacked out and I have been unable to view my current speed or general information. I know there is a recall on select taos models facing this same issue and wanted to make sure that my vehicle is documented as having this same issue and may need a software update. I have had issue with the propulsion system. Sometime the vehicle "jumps" when just touching the gas petal, other times it takes a long time to get up to speed. I typically see slower power generation when going around corners, power seems to drop. Additionally every once in awhile I'll be driving and the emergency alert system comes on unexpectedly and unnecessarily, which in itself causes panic. The lane departure on this vehicle ping pongs you back and forth, it doesn't perform well at all and needs to be addressed. Aloy of software updates are needed. The fuel gauge (miles til empty) and the speedometer appear to read incorrectly. VW knows about this problem as I informed them on my 30,000 mile check up, but they don't have a fix for it yet. All these things can be safety hazards and again needs to be addressed.

Driving on several occasions and the adaptive cruise control has completely stopped working while driving at highway speeds on numerous occasions. A dealership replaced the cruise control system. There are serious electrical problems with this car. Sometimes the cruise will stop working, the air doesn't work correctly, the screen will randomly get hot, shut off, glitch, buttons on steering wheel will randomly stop working, SOS system will randomly go off. Three dealerships have told my wife and I we are stupid and don't know how to work the car. Can provide pictures and videos but dealerships can never replicate the issue.

I have brough my vehicle into the dealership on 3 separate occasions, all of which were the same safety issue - the engine would stall while accelerating and would shut off. However the 3rd incident was the most dangerous. On [XXX], I was driving southbound on [XXX] with my [XXX] daughter, en route to her pediatric appointment. After merging onto the freeway via the on-ramp, I accelerated to approximately 65 MPH and was traveling in the middle lane when the vehicle suddenly stalled. The engine shut off without warning, and the car began to coast in neutral, rapidly decelerating. Simultaneously, multiple dashboard alerts appeared, including the Check Engine light and the high wind warning indicator. As the car lost power, I had to carefully navigate around other vehicles to safely maneuver toward the shoulder of the freeway. Once stopped on the side of the road, I placed the vehicle in park, turned it off, and attempted to restart it. The engine did turn back on, but the Check Engine light remained illuminated. Out of concern for safety, I returned the vehicle to the dealership for service less than 24 hours after picking it up, following the most recent repair and extended test drive performed by Volkswagen stating the vehicle was in working order. My safety and my daughter's were at risk because I was driving on the freeway at speed of 65MPH and the engine stalled making power steering and acceleration challenging as I was trying to get to the shoulder of the freeway. I was almost hit by cars behind me. This is the 3rd time this has been taken to the dealership for inspection and each time they cannot find an issue. The only times it has happened on the road and this is the first time it has happened on the freeway. Additionally, this car is new and has never been in my possession more than 24 hours before going back to the dealership for repairs due to the engine stalling. While driving I received an 'Auto Start/Stop' error message and my engine light was flashing. Lost drivetrain power. Pulled over and turned vehicle off. After letting it sit for 10 minutes I restarted the vehicle and the Auto Start/Stop error message displayed but no check engine light this time. Drove vehicle home and could not replicate issue.

VOLKSWAGEN CARE CASE# 06671593. 2024 VOLKSWAGEN TAOS SE FWD CURRENT MILEAGE 11,411. ONGOING BRAKE SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS FOR MONTHS ON BOTH FRONT AND REAR WHICH HAVE STILL NOT BEEN REPAIRED. LOUD GRINDING, SQUEAKING, GURGLING NOISES AND BURNT BRAKE PADS SMELL FROM FRONT BRAKES. BRAKES FEEL AS IF THEY WERE SLIPPING OR ENGAGING TOO HARSHLY. FINALLY REAR BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED BY COACHELLA VALLEY VOLKSWAGEN ON 02/04/25 WITHOUT REAR ROTORS RESURFACED OR REPLACED AND SUCH AFFECTED THE VEHICLES BRAKE PERFORMANCE EVEN WORSE, ALMOST CAUSING ME INTO A HEAD ON COLLISION ON MY WAY HOME AFTER SPENDING THE ENTIRE DAY WAITING FOR MY VEHICLE IN THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE HAS HAD TROUBLE STARTING UP AS IF IT HAD A DED BATTERY. GAS DIGITAL ODOMETERS, BOTH NUMERICAL AND DASH SYMBOLS OFTEN GET FROZEN WHEN FUELING UP COMPLETELY. GAS ODOMETER WILL REFLECT ABOVE 345 MILES - 400 MILES TO THE EMPTY AND WILL REMAIN FROZEN FOR MULTIPLE DAYS. CUSTOMER HAS TO BASE DRIVING OFF THE MILES AFTER REFUELING INFORMATION SCREEN IN ORDERTO DRIVE VEHICLE. ENTIRE MEDIA SCREEN COMPLETELY FREEZES WHEN DRIVING ON A ROAD TRIP NO MATTER WHAT DEVICE IS CONNECTED BOTH ANDROID OR IPHONE. CUSTOMER HAS HAD TO PULL OVER AND COMPLETELY TURN OFF VEHICLE AROUND 5 MINUTES IN ORDER TO UNFREEZE MEDIA SCREEN. LANE KEEPING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS SPECIALLY AT HIGH TEMPERATURE DAYS. LANE KEEPING SYSTEM NOT AVAILABLE SIGN APPEARS FOR MOST OF THE DAY; HOURGLASS NEXT TO A WHITE VEHICLE SIGN WARNING APPEARS MOST OF THE DAY DURING HIGH TEMPERATURES, SIGN TURNS INTO YELLOW / ORANGE WARNING. YELLOW LANE ASSIST CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE WARNING SIGN APPEARS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DASHBOARD. YELLOW EXCLAMATION / TRIANGLE WARNING SIGN APPEARS TO THE LEFT OF THE DASHBOARD. EPC WARNING LIGHT HAS TUNRNED ON AND OFF MULTIPLE TIMES TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE DASHBOARD SINCE VEHICLE HAD 2287 MILES.

The contact owns a 2024 Volkswagen Taos. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing electrical failures. The contact stated while driving and slowly coming to a complete stop with her daughter in the front passenger’s seat, the contact felt the brake pedal suddenly traveling further down independently, and the vehicle prematurely came to a stop. Additionally, the radio became excessively loud, causing both the contact and her daughter to feel shocked. The contact stated that there was an abnormal clicking sound coming from the dashboard, followed by an independent increase in the A/C temperature. The contact also stated that the SOS button was inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the failure could be related to the key fob radio wave. The vehicle was test-driven while the key fob was out of the vehicle; however, the failure recurred. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving 50 MPH, the front passenger's side tire became flat. The contact pulled to the side of the road. Roadside assistance was contacted and replaced the tire with the spare tire. The vehicle was later taken to an independent mechanic, where the contact was informed that the wheel housing had caused a hole in the tire. The front passenger's side tire was replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.
