TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 VOLVO VH. WHEN A TRAILER WAS PLACED ON THE VEHICLE, IT WEIGHED DOWN THE SUSPENSION AND CAUSED THE BRAKE LINE TO TOUCH THE DRIVESHAFT. THE DRIVESHAFT CAUSED A HOLE IN THE SERVICE BRAKE LINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND THE BRAKE LINES WERE REPAIRED. THE DIAGNOSTIC SHOWED NO ERROR CODES. THE PURCHASE DATE, VIN, ENGINE SIZE, NUMBER OF CYLINDERS, AND TRANSMISSION TYPE WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 274,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 270,000.

I PURCHASED A NEW 2006 VOLVO XC90 IN OCTOBER 2006. EIGHT TO TEN MONTHS I STOPPED FOR SOME GAS AND MY CAR WOULD NOT RESTART. I HAD IT TOWED AND THE NEXT DAY THE DEALER WAS ABLE TO START IT RIGHT UP WITHOUT PERFORMING ANY WORK SO I PICKED IT UP. ONE TO TWO DAYS LATER THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN AND I HAD IT TOWED AGAIN. VOLVO SERVICE HAD IT FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND REPLACED THE BATTERY. I WENT TO PICK IT UP AND IT WOULDN'T START THERE. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I LEFT IT AGAIN. I HAD A LOANER FOR APPROXIMATELY 1 WEEK OR SO AND THEY DECIDED TO REPLACE THE STARTER. THE VEHICLE RAN WELL FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS AND ON DECEMBER 23RD WHILE OUT AT THE MALL THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AGAIN. I HAD IT TOWED AND THE TOWMAN CALLED AND TOLD ME THAT THE VEHICLE STARTED WHEN HE ARRIVED AT THE SERVICE LOCATION WHICH WAS CLOSED. TODAY IS DECEMBER 27TH AND THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE. THE SERVICE DIRECTOR IS DRIVING THE VEHICLE TO TRY AND EXPERIENCE THE PROBLEM. THIS HAS BEEN A DISHEARTENING EXPERIENCE TO SPEND CLOSE TO $40,000 AND HAVE THESE PROBLEMS. *TR

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
Compare model years
Complaint and recall counts across every year of this model
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
