The defect: ON CERTAIN SANITARY TRAILERS EQUIPPED WITH WEBB WHEEL PLATINUM SERIES BRAKE DRUMS, THESE BRAKE DRUMS COULD CRACK ON THE BRAKING SURFACE.
The risk: THIS COULD RESULT IN REDUCTION OR COMPLETE LOSS OF BRAKING WHICH COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
The remedy: WEBB WHEEL WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE BRAKE DRUMS. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT WEBB WHEEL AT 1-800-633-3256 OR WALKER AT 1-800-356-5734.

The defect: ON CERTAIN TRAILERS EQUIPPED WITH BENDIX SR-2, SR-4, AND SR-5 TRAILER SPRING BRAKE VALVE ASSEMBLIES, THE MOLDED RUBBER FACE OF THE INLET/EXHAUST VALVE (I/E VALVE) COMPONENT OF THE AFFECTED VALVES CAN SEPARATE FROM THE VALVE'S METAL INSERT. AIR CAN BE TRAPPED BY A SEPARATED I/E VALVE CAUSING IT TO BALLOON AND BLOCK THE EXHAUST PASSAGE OF THE TRAILER SPRING BRAKE CIRCUIT.
The risk: THIS CONDITION CAN RESULT IN THE AFFECTED VEHICLES BEING UNABLE TO APPLY THE TRAILER PARKING/EMERGENCY SPRING BRAKES DURING PARKING IN THE EVENT OF A TRAILER SUPPLY LINE FAILURE. UNINTENDED ROLLAWAY COULD OCCUR, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH TO THE VEHICLE OCCUPANT OR ANY BYSTANDERS.
The remedy: BENDIX WILL NOTIFY CUSTOMERS AND PROVIDE A REPAIR KIT AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FREE OF CHARGE. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT BENDIX AT 440-329-9000 OR WALKER AT 608-562-5767.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS BIG O TIRES WITH A SIZE 205/75/R14 ON A 2001 WANDERER LIGHT TRAILER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR TIRE. HE WAS ABLE TO SAFELY EXCHANGE THE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE TIRE WAS REPLACED AT AN EXPENSE OF $84.00. HOWEVER AFTER THE REPAIR HE NOTICED THAT THE REST OF THE TREAD ON THE OTHER TIRES WERE SEPARATING. HE STILL HAS POSSESSION OF THE TIRES THAT HAVE FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 6000. UPDATED 10/23/09 *BF UPDATED 10/23/09
