The defect: WHEEGO IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010 WHEEGO WHIP LSV LOW-SPEED VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM JANUARY 1 THROUGH JULY 31, 2009. THE REFLEX REFLECTORS ON THE SIDE AND THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE MAY NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT REFLECTIVE QUALITY AND THEREFORE FAIL TO MEET THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD 500, "LOW-SPEED VEHICLES."
The risk: INSUFFICIENT EXTERIOR REFLECTIVE LIGHT COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
The remedy: WHEEGO WILL SEND INSTRUCTIONS AND 4 COMPLIANT REFLEX REFLECTORS TO ALL DEALERS AND OWNERS FREE OF CHARGE FOR ADHESION TO THE AFFECTED VEHICLES. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 21, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT WHEEGO AT 1-678-904-4795.

Safety recall
A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. NHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
Manufacturer communication
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
