What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2000 Workhorse P320032, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Brakes
Reports naming service brakes, the antilock braking system, brake hoses, master cylinders or the parking brake.
From owner reports, verbatim
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 WORKHORSE P31 CHASSIS (NA). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL SPORADICALLY SOFTENS DUE TO THE BRAKE FLUID BOILING. IN ADDITION, THE CALIPERS BECOME STUCK IN THE APPLIED POSITION. AS A RESULT, ABNORMAL HEAT GENERATION OCCURS AT THE WHEEL END AND CAUSES THE BRAKES TO DRAG. THE STOPPING DISTANCE ALSO INCREASES. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT HIS VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V110000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC); THEREFORE, THEY WOULD NOT ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE REPAIRS. THE FAILURES STILL PERSIST. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE NOT APPLICABLE.
ON MAY 14, 2009 WHILE ON ROUTE 15 NEAR FREDERICK,MD DRIVER NOTICED THAT BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR WHEN DEPRESSED WITH REDUCED BRAKING. THE FEEL OF THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS AS IF THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE HYDRAULIC BRAKING SYSTEM. AN INSPECTION BY A MECHANIC INDICATED THAT THE FRONT CALIPERS HAD LOCKED UP OVERHEATING THE BRAKES. THE FRONT CALIPERS, HOSES, PADS , AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED. THE MOTORHOME, A 2000 DAMON CHALLENGER HAD 7500 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME OF THE BRAKE FAILURE. *TR
